Yeah i completely agree Radahn was a forced plain B. Godwin would have been the best option but in the night of the black knives godwins soul died not his body complicating everything as shown in the failed reserection at castle sol. (yeah Radahn did make it harder by haulting the stars but im assuming it would fail reguardless seeing the state godwin is becoming.) I personally would have loved a giant godwin fish cosmic death mermaid fight.

The hornsent tried to take life and death into their own hands and failed, Marika also tried to take life and death into her own hands and eventually fails, I guess it’s foreshadowing 😢

Could the jar ritual be tied to the formless mother? It’s tenuous and I don’t have a full grasp yet, but I mean the blindfold, using sinners - makes me think of the bloody thorns and the blood Star even tho they don’t use thorns. My understanding of the whip is they horribly wound someone and hope they blend with other life - the formless mother requires a wound, and who else wounds themselves to blend with other life? Godrick who has the “curse of grafting”. Im fully tinfoil hat over here and need to do a lot more investigation of grafting, the omen, the blood fiends, the albinaurics etc - but AFAIK we don’t see a successful “Saint” in the dlc - what if they Saints they were trying to make are the omen? What if that’s why grafting is so reviled? What if being whipped into the jar was an offering to the formless mother? What if Marika despises the Omen because they’re a harsh, harsh reminded of the horrors the Hornsent visited upon her people? The blood fiend arm says it was “SANCTIFIED BY A BLOODY RITUAL” - what if they are Saints?

the jars lore is one of the most disturbing things ever, like wow, the way in wich they make me recoil from just the thought of the process. and ohgod when I found that minor Erdtree Incantation I was SO close to tears like damn, this game has always been sad, but somehow it gets MORE AND MORE SAD the more you learn 😭. I love it.

I like hearing the weird lore of fromsoft games. Its unlike any other games, even when other games try to imitate fromsoft. They were a perfect match with george rr martin. I also used to spent hours reading the lore of westeros. Yknow, back when he wrote books.

I wonder if that specific Hornsent who said these cruel words to the shamans lived long enough to be subject to similar cruelties by Messmer’s crusaders when they invaded. I don’t know how long Hornsent lived but assuming he lived to see the crusade take place, I can only imagine it shifting from him whipping shamans with tooth whips and shoving them in jars like its an ordinary day to him being being captured by the crusaders before enduring days of being beaten and branded by serpent flails while being yelled at with slurs and obscenities by them such as being “Graceless scum” who’s only purpose is to be hunted, dehorned, impaled and burned before being forced to march alongside fellow Hornsent who’ve been rounded up, beaten, branded and dehorned to a furnace golem that has yet to come to life. As the Hornsent are being pushed and crammed inside the golem to the point where’s it’s getting hard to breathe, they are given a speech by a Black Knight captain who says that though they are graceless vermin with no place in the order, their lives will at least serve one purpose: as kindling for their holy crusade. The Hornsent reminisces on those shamans back in Bonny Village and realizes that he has become a victim to the same cruelties he inflicted on them. However, he has no time to think of his current predicament as the crusaders set the golem aflame and the screams of countless Hornsent and the stench of their burning flesh fill the air as the golem comes to life. So ends the life of one Hornsent among hundreds, now used to fuel a lifeless machine of death and murder as it marches onto the battlefield. And so, the crusade continues.

I choose to belive that most Hornsent weren't really involved... cause I love the Hornsent culture and when I figured out what happened to the Shamans I was genuinely disappointed in them lol

I saw someone called Syrobe watching VaatiVidya's Lore Revelation video bring up that there might have been a huge mistranslation in the game when it comes to the Shaman Village. If i understood it correctly the village is called Miko Village and they were shrine maidens, not shamans! There are "correctly translated shamans" in the game as well, which further confuses things.

I never even saw Thiollier’s needle. I was lucky I didn’t screw myself over worse than I did. I went exploring, looking for easily accessible Scadutree fragments, and I triggered the breaking of the rune very early. I had found and spoken too all of the main NPCs, but it was clear they all just skipped way ahead in their quest lines. I will be more careful my next run.

I was so happy when I found that braid in the Shaman village. Marika statues having one long and one short, apparently cut off, braid is one of the first things I noticed when I played the game and I always wondered why. There is also a falling stare beast in a golden meteor crater close to the finger ruins outside the Shamam village. And I found a “ fake medicine “ in a cave close by that said it could turn people into fingers ( but apparently I guess it could not? ). So many lore pieces to add to the big picture.

Marika was raised in shaman village after the village was slaughtered she made her vow then set off to make her way up the hornsent society on her way she found for herself a monster in the flesh of man who was the perfect candidate for her revenge and ascension she used horaux Loux to slaughter the hornsent and return from the gate of divinity and then she hid away her betrayal and dark plotting with the scaudutree also you should view Miquella as a parrallel to marika and what did Miquella abandon his other half the female aspect Trina what i think happened and makes the most sense is Marika abandoned Radagon in order to ascend to godhood and that is why even though Radagon returned to her he isn't a god until the shattering

Oh and I think Romona might be that person we saw in the trailer, sitting down in the flames, holding something in her hands/lap and there was a spear beside her. It said somewhere that Romina cradled the bud in her hands as the chapel burned down and that bud became her blade. Or something like that.

Doesn’t Ansbach say something about how you can tell someone is an Empyrean by their eye? Do all empyreans only have one eye? I think there was a cross that said Miquella left his eye there and not his eyes. Marika took out Messmers eye, singular. I’m so confused. I think you’re on to something about Marika seducing a snake. There are weird statues all over the path up to the divine gate thing, statues of a man with snakes/tentacles embracing a woman. Either that’s Marika and Messmers father, OR Messmer was perhaps in love with the gloam eyed queen and that’s him and her? There are also statues in catacombs and ruins of a woman with what looks like a mausoleum on her head. So clearly someone having to do something with death.
